What’s In the Trunk?

February 8, 2013

For the models, editors, buyers and designers who’ll be hopping from New York to Paris to Milan this month for the runway shows, February means fashion.

But the couture scene isn’t just for that rarified breeds of show ponies.

Down at The Cove Atlantis, we’re also helping you put your best look forward, kicking off a new season of exclusive high-fashion trunk shows at Escape, the resort’s ultra-sophisticated and always in-style boutique.

Coming up right away, from February 14 to 17, is an inaugural presentation from Ranjana Khan, who’ll be showing off her gorgeous and much-coveted jewelry. Having previously worked with such fashion icons as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Alber Elbaz and Alexander McQueen, Ranjana now creates intricately embellished and Indian-inflected statement pieces—metallic, Lucite and brightly beaded necklaces and oversized earrings among them—that project energy and élan. They’re true knockouts. (And, guys, if you’re reading this, note that they make great Valentine’s gifts.)

Then, right after, from February 21 through 24, we’ve got to-die-for swimwear and other beachy attire—just in time for spring break!—from Hanne Bloch, a former Missoni designer who’s been out on her own since 2008, creating beautiful pieces with luxurious materials and daring color combinations. This season, we fell absolutely in love with her custom “Ink Blot” watercolor print and white tunics, as well as her bikinis and poolside dresses and cover-ups, many of which coordinate with chevron zigzag patterns and copper metallic accents.

Looking ahead, March brings two more of our favorites: super-sexy, fits-like-a-glove swimwear from the bodacious Brazilian label Lenny (March 8 to 10) and the retro-antique-chic jewelry of Dorie Love (March 22 to 24), which combine precious and semi-precious stones and metals in unique designs that will have everyone saying “Who’s that girl—and where did she get those earrings?”
