Happy Feet: Get Your Kicks
February 6, 2012The latest workout shoes are designed to really get you going. Revved-up neon pink – or shall we say HOTTTT pink – is the shade of the day. These kicks are so bright they look like they have their own battery pack. Oprah is insane for ASICS’ new glow-in-the-dark sneakers, the Gel-Noosa Tri shoe, $120 http://www.zappos.com/asics-gel-noosa-tri-6-neon-yellow-glow-white-hot-pink?zlfid=111&recoName=zap_brand_page. They are ultra-light and so snug that you’re not supposed to wear socks with them. (Okay, that’s a little hardcore, but just going to go with it.) Yes, they are serious gear, great for racing and making you fleet of foot, but let’s get real: we adore them for the way the look. Lace them up and GAME ON.
Running with this trend, ADIDAS is the first in the game to add wild color to boating shoes. Instead of the stuffy Top Siders your dad used to wear (zzzzzzzz), the new Adidas Boatlace DLX for men ($90, and new new new – they just hit the stores mid-January) is part skateboard punk, part technical. If the Beastie Boys go sailing, this is what would be on their feet. The shoes are waterproof and the soles are non-slip and won’t leave marks on the deck of your fabulous yacht…but the look is straight-up sporty street.
So if you’re visiting the Bahamas, why not do your best Andy Samberg/T-Pain “I’m on a Boat” impression and charter a yacht for the day. Or a motorboat. Or a Windjammer with a crew. Pretty much any water-tight vessel will help you show off your cool kicks and The Cove’s concierge will arrange for whatever you desire. Just don’t forget to invite me. I’ll bring the sunblock.
